Yongfu Bridge

Yongfu Bridge is a cultural relic protection unit of Suzhou City.

Yongfu Bridge spans Qiandengpu to the north of Qiandeng Town. Originally named Qixiu Bridge, it is commonly known as the North Bridge. It was first built during the Tianqi era of the Ming Dynasty, rebuilt in the first year of the Chongzhen era (1628), and renovated in the 52nd year of the Qianlong era (1787). Yongfu Bridge is a stone stepped arch bridge, standing 6 meters high, 5.1 meters wide, and 38 meters long.

In 2004, Yongfu Bridge was listed as a cultural relic protection unit of Kunshan City.

Qiandeng Town: Qiandeng was formerly known as Qiandun. According to the *Songnan Zhi* by Chen Yuanmo of the Qing Dynasty, located 36 li southeast of Kunshan County in Chuannong Township, there is a waterway called Qiandunpu. The name originated because the Songjiang River flows eastward from Wumen to this point, where there are nearly a thousand mounds on both banks, hence the name Qiandun. In the second year of the Xuantong era of the Qing Dynasty (1910), it was renamed Qiandun, with two legends about the origin of the name: one claims it was an elegant literary term, while the other says it was due to the abundance of madder plants growing on the mounds. In April 1966, with the approval of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Committee, it was renamed Qiandeng, as it remains known today.
