Tian Xiaode

Tian Xiaode is a cultural heritage site protected by the Suzhou Municipal Government.

Tian Xiaode is located at Chenghuangdai in Zhouzhuang Town. Originally built during the Chongzhen era of the Ming Dynasty and renovated in the Qing Dynasty. The ancient residence sits west-facing-east, fronted by the North-South Market River and backed by Hougang, and is the only remaining building in the Jiangnan area with a front hall and two rear halls.

In 1992, Zhouzhuang resident Wang Longguan founded the Tian Xiaode Folk Collection Museum here. The museum spans seven courtyards, including the Eight Immortals Building, Xiangwei Hall, the Treasure-Collecting Hall on the left, the Liuyi Hall on the right, the Wufu Bungalow, the Looping Dragon Hall, the Crane Hall, the Inner Hall Building, east and west wing rooms, and the small rear gate tower—totaling over 50 rooms covering an area of approximately 1,000 square meters. The collection houses over ten thousand historic artifacts, spanning from the Neolithic Age to the Republican Era.

In 2009, Tian Xiaode was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Kunshan City.
