The Bridge Revolutionary Memorial Hall is located in Sanjiangying Village, Daqiao Town, Jiangdu City.

From September 1938 to the end of 1939, the New Fourth Army Advance Column crossed the Yangtze River in batches heading north, establishing anti-Japanese bridgehead positions in areas such as Daqiao, Wuqiao, and Sima in northern Jiangsu—positions of significant strategic importance. On April 8, 1949, to clear obstacles for the PLA’s river crossing, the Liberation Army launched an intense battle to liberate Sanjiangying, suffering 262 casualties including 60 deaths. The liberation of Sanjiangying marked the full liberation of Jiangdu. On April 20, 1949, the British warship HMS Amethyst, patrolling the Yangtze near Sanjiangying, shelled the PLA’s Third Field Army troops in an attempt to block their crossing of the Yangtze. Mao Zedong issued a stern statement on behalf of the PLA headquarters regarding the incident—an event that had international ramifications. Six PLA officers and soldiers were killed in the artillery duel. To pass on revolutionary history, honor the martyrs’ spirit, and inspire people to actively participate in socialist modernization, the Daqiao Town Party Committee and government, on the basis of developing the site of the New Fourth Army’s first northern river-crossing anti-Japanese position and building the Sanjiangying Revolutionary Martyrs Monument, collected relevant historical materials and constructed the Bridge Revolutionary Memorial Hall, which was completed and opened to the public on September 30, 2009, receiving positive responses.
