Yangzhou Stone Pagoda

Yangzhou Stone Pagoda is a cultural tourism attraction.

A five-story, hexagonal stone pagoda built during the Tang Dynasty. Originally located at the ancient Mulan Temple, it now stands in the central green space of the newly established Shita Road. It is a symbol of Yangzhou’s timeless charm. The stone niches on the pagoda feature 26 relief Buddha statues in the Tang Dynasty style. Beside the pagoda is a famous ancient ginkgo tree in Yangzhou, which is over a thousand years old.

Legend: This place is associated with the story of Wang Bo and the "after-meal bell" at Mulan Temple. According to *Tang Zhiyan* by Wang Dingbao of the Five Dynasties: “In his youth, Wang Bo was poor and once stayed at the Mulan Temple of Hui Zhao Temple in Yangzhou. He joined the monks for meals, but they grew tired of him and had already finished eating by the time he arrived.” Later, this came to describe being slighted due to poverty. Su Shi of the Song Dynasty wrote in *Stone Pagoda Temple*: “Now I see the meaning of the after-meal bell — the abbot truly had foresight.”
