The Horse-Riding Building is a famous structure within Heyuan Garden. It is a national key cultural relics protection unit. Heyuan Garden, also known as "Jixiao Mountain Villa," was built during the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty by He Zhizhai. Originally serving as the guesthouse of Heyuan Garden, the Horse-Riding Building is divided into the West Building and the East Building. Its corridors on all levels—upper and lower, east and west, front and back—are interconnected, resembling a maze. Notable figures who once stayed in the Horse-Riding Building at Heyuan include the renowned traditional Chinese painting master Huang Binhong, who visited Yangzhou six times and stayed on the first floor of the East Building; and Mr. Zhu Qianhua, a member of the China Writers Association and a celebrated writer, who resided at Heyuan for over five years (from 1980 to 1985), living in the second floor of the East Building. The original site of Heyuan Garden was an ancient garden in Yangzhou from the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, known as Shuanghuai Garden.
