Zhe-Shao Guild Hall

The Zhe-Shao Guild Hall is a Yangzhou Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Zhe-Shao Guild Hall is situated at No. 54 Dashixiang, a Qing Dynasty building spanning over 900 square meters in land area and around 500 square meters in construction area. The main gate faces south, and the ceremonial gate faces west. The gatehouse is made up of three wing rooms. Behind the ceremonial gate is the second-courtyard main hall, oriented east-west, 13 meters in width (across three bays) and 10.3 meters in depth (across eight roof ridges), topped with a flush gable roof. Its framework uses fir wood and follows a post-and-lintel style. In front of the hall is a rolled shed porch, crafted from cypress wood. Overall, the hall is neatly built, tall and broad, simple yet dignified, reflecting local Yangzhou architectural features and mid-Qing stylistic forms. There are also several auxiliary rooms on the north and south sides of the hall. It served as a gathering place for merchants from Shaoxing, Zhejiang, who came to Yangzhou for meetings, networking with fellow townsmen and clan members, and resting.
