Pingyuan Garden is a Yangzhou municipal-level cultural heritage site.

Pingyuan Garden

Now a municipal-level cultural heritage site, it is located at No. 723, Nanhe Xia, within the urban area. Built by salt merchant Zhou Jingchen, it covers an area of 3,447 square meters. The main gate faces south and is a brick-carved gate tower. The garden is situated to the west of the residence, with its entrance facing east. Above the gate is a stone plaque inscribed with the characters “平园” (Pingyuan Garden) in regular script. The garden is divided into northern and southern courtyards by a floral-patterned wall, with a moon gate in the center of the wall. The moon gate has a stone plaque above it, inscribed with the characters “惕息” (Beware and Reflect) on the south side and “小苑风和” (Gentle Breeze in the Little Garden) on the north side. The southern courtyard contains two 300-year-old magnolia trees, while the northern courtyard features a five-bay flower hall facing south. Inside the hall are exquisitely crafted nanmu lattice partitions. Along the southern wall of the hall, there is a rockery made of lake stones.
