Dıyuan Garden is a Yangzhou Municipal Cultural Heritage Site.

Dıyuan Garden

It is now a municipal-level cultural heritage site, located at No. 26 Nanhexia, within the compound of Unit 723 in the downtown area. Originally built during the Ming Dynasty, it was expanded in the early Qing Dynasty and first named Dıyuan Garden during the Daoguang era. In the early years of the Guangxu reign, it came under the ownership of the Hunan Guild Hall. Existing structures include the Opera Viewing Hall and the Butterfly Hall. The Opera Viewing Hall faces south with a hip-and-gable roof, is constructed with nanmu wood, features square-section timberwork, and has a five-bay width and a depth of seven purlins. The ridge apex is adorned with exquisite brick carvings. The garden has suffered severe damage, but its overall scale remains. The original ancient opera stage in the garden was demolished in 1978, with its wooden framework preserved by the museum. The garden’s pond and rockery were buried underground.
