The Former Residence of the Feng Family, a Salt Merchant

Located at No. 292 Dongguan Street, it was the residence of the Feng family, who were salt merchants during the Qing Dynasty. The entrance gate tower has been rebuilt, but the three-bay entrance hall still remains. The first section features a secondary entrance hall, above which there is a three-bay loft. The main house in the first section consists of three bays with one wing room; the second and third sections are three-bay, two-wing-room style residences, connected in the middle by a courtyard. Outside the eastern gable wall of the building is a fire lane passage. The gate and entrance hall of this structure have suffered considerable damage, but the main house’s gate, overall layout, and structure are relatively well preserved.
