The Former Site of the Baptist Hospital is a cultural relic protection unit of Yangzhou City.

In the 31st year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1905), the American Southern Baptist Mission sent American physician Dr. Evans to Yangzhou to practice medicine and preach, establishing the Baptist Hospital. In the 2nd year of the Republic of China, Dr. Evans returned to the United States, and Dr. Anderson took over the management of the hospital. The following year, Dr. Anderson also returned home, and Dr. Tai Da came to Yangzhou to take charge of the hospital. In the 10th year of the Republic of China, construction began on a new hospital at the current site of West Nantong Road, including an outpatient building, a ward building, as well as dormitories for Western missionaries (physicians), nurses, and staff. In the 11th year of the Republic of China, a senior nursing vocational school was established within the hospital grounds. The hospital was forced to close during the Northern Expedition. In the 25th year of the Republic of China, the Southern Baptist Mission dispatched Dr. Mu Xia to Yangzhou to resume operations. During the Anti-Japanese War, the hospital was temporarily used as a refugee shelter. After the outbreak of the Pacific War, Japanese forces took over the Yangzhou Baptist Hospital. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the Southern Baptist Mission sent Pastor Stantz, along with Pastor Wang Jiaqing of the Baptist Church at Xiajiaqiao in Yangzhou, to represent the church in reclaiming the hospital. In the summer of the 35th year of the Republic of China, hospital operations resumed. On July 26, 1951, the Baptist Hospital was taken over by the Yangzhou Municipal People's Government, renamed the Yangzhou Workers' Hospital, and relocated to the former site of the American-Han Middle School. The original site of the Baptist Hospital was taken over and used by the Yangzhou People's Hospital, which was later renamed the Subei People's Hospital and remains so to this day. The former outpatient building has been demolished, but three two-story Western-style buildings remain, serving as the hospital office, general affairs department, and infrastructure department. These structures are generally well-preserved.
