The Main Hall of Puzhao Temple is commonly known as the Sun Palace. Originally a Taoist temple, its exact date of establishment is unknown. It was rebuilt during the early years of Emperor Guangxu’s reign in the Qing Dynasty by the Taoist priest Daoqing. Emperor Guangxu bestowed upon it a plaque inscribed with “Puzhao Chan Temple” and a ceremonial blue-purple dragon staff. The original complex included a mountain gate, the Mahavira Hall, a scripture depository, and dozens of auxiliary rooms. Today, only the Mahavira Hall remains. It faces south, is five bays wide and seven rafters deep, features a front veranda, and has a flush gable roof. The overall structure is relatively well-preserved.
