Lotus Fragrance Bridge

This stone arch bridge is 29.1 meters long, 4.8 meters wide, with a rise of 4.8 meters, and covers a construction area of 139.68 square meters. Originally called Fahai Bridge, it was reconstructed in the fourth year of the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty (1525) by Huo Sheng, commander of the Yangzhou Guard. Prior to the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty, it was the essential passage for pleasure boats en route to Pingshan Hall. In 1963, the stone railings were replaced with precast cement ones adorned with lotus patterns, the stone steps were renovated, lotuses were planted along the lake, and the bridge was renamed “Lotus Fragrance Bridge.”
