Sajin Bridge is a cultural relic protection unit of Yangzhou City.

Sajin Bridge

This single-arch brick-and-stone bridge runs east-west, crossing the Wen River (an official river from the Tang Dynasty). It measures 21.2 meters in length and 13 meters in width, with a rise of 5.2 meters and a clear span of 7.3 meters, covering a construction area of 275.6 square meters. The bridge’s foundation is made of bluestone, and there are stone grooves near the outer edges, suggesting the possible original presence of a water gate. After being reconstructed, the water gate was abandoned and the bridge became part of the gateway leading into the barbican of the city gate. Inscribed bricks on the arch bear the date “February 6th, the second year of the Xianfeng reign,” indicating that the bridge underwent major repairs during the mid-to-late Qing Dynasty. In 2005, the Southern Gate site was archaeologically excavated and the bridge was restored.
