Former Residence of the Wang Family on Dayangrou Lane

The former residence of the Wang family is located at No. 4 Dayangrou Lane. It was the home of Wang Wanqing, a renowned master of Yangzhou Qingqu (a traditional vocal art form). At the age of 11, Wang began studying Kunqu Opera under his father, Wang Bicheng, but switched to Yangzhou Qingqu three years later. Through artistic practice, he integrated elements from various schools to establish the "Wang style." In his later years, he meticulously compiled the performance experiences of contemporary Qingqu masters as well as his own, and authored two essays, “Artistic Experience in the Performance of Yangzhou Qingqu” and “Yangzhou Pronunciation,” both published in Yangzhou Opera. The residence faces south and consists of a front and rear hall, each with three bays and side rooms, and is generally well preserved.
