The Tang Zhonghe Bronze Bell in Danyang — Originally part of the ritual objects of Puning Temple on South Street in Danyang City. The Zhonghe Bronze Bell stands 2.14 meters tall, is 0.11 meters thick, and has a diameter of 1.41 meters. The rim is cast with a wide border, and the lip is six-curved. The body of the bell is black with a hint of green, cast in three sections with clear marks; raised spiral patterns and vertical lines divide the bell into eight sections. There are four hoops at the waist, both above and below, with rectangular and trapezoidal geometric patterns cast inside, arranged in a simple and elegant design. The bell’s knob features two linked dragons, each with two horns, long tongues hanging down from the top of the bell and curling slightly upward, bodies covered in scales, and four feet standing firmly — all vividly realistic. The inscription on the bell states: “The bronze bell weighs 5,500 jin, donated by the devout woman Wang Shisiniang for casting.” According to the inscription, the bell was cast in the third year of the Zhonghe era during the reign of Emperor Xizong of the Tang Dynasty (883 AD). Modern technical measurements show that the Zhonghe Bronze Bell actually weighs 6,025 jin, providing a valuable reference for studying the ratio between Tang and modern weighing systems. It is currently housed in Danyang People's Park.
