Danyang Tiandi Stone Carving Park is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a cultural tourism destination.

Danyang is the hometown of the emperors of the Southern Qi and Liang dynasties, a historic cultural city with a civilization history of over 6,000 years and an urban founding history of more than 2,400 years. The Tiandi Stone Carving Park, the largest stone carving cultural park in Asia, is located here.

Nestled among lakes and mountains, Tiandi Stone Carving Park features pleasant scenery, with the clear lake reflecting the green hills, white clouds, and tree shadows under the blue sky. The overall architecture is designed based on the prototype of a phoenix, combining structural design with the terrain’s elevation changes to form several ribbon-like structures. Each ribbon serves as a themed exhibition hall, presented in the form of corridors that connect into a loop. The various-sized display stands in each hall are embedded within the walls. Strolling along the corridor, visitors are treated to a dreamlike interplay of light, shadow, and dazzling stone carvings.

Located in Danyang, Jiangsu Province — the hometown of the Qi and Liang dynasties and one of China’s top 100 counties — the Tiandi Stone Carving Park project is set against the backdrop of Qi-Liang culture. Using the highly cultural and historically valuable Southern Dynasties tomb stone carvings of Danyang, along with nearly 8,000 stone carvings from the Western Han Dynasty to the Republic of China, as a foundation, and enhanced with high-tech elements, it has been developed into the largest stone carving theme park in Asia. It is a national 4A-level cultural tourism scenic area that integrates cultural appreciation with leisure activities for the public.

Tiandi Stone Carving Park is a Phase I project of the Jiangsu Cultural Science and Technology Industrial Park, with a total investment of 260 million yuan, designed by Beijing Turenscape Landscape Architecture Design Inc. The building covers a construction area of 15,000 square meters, with a landscape area of 400,000 square meters.

The entire architectural form takes the shape of a phoenix, symbolizing Danyang’s “Phoenix Facing the Sun.” Over 8,000 stone carvings from the Western Han Dynasty to the Republic of China, donated by Mr. Jason Wu, a Chinese-Canadian, are housed here. This is the only and largest stone carving cultural landscape in China and even the world.

The indoor exhibition design of Tiandi Stone Carving Park focuses on showcasing Qi-Liang culture and the more than 8,000 stone carvings, making full use of modern technologies such as sound, light, and electricity to present a stone carving expo park that combines knowledge, fun, and interactivity. Meanwhile, the outdoor landscape design of the park arranges exhibits into three major categories: tomb stone carvings, religious stone carvings, and other types of stone carvings, creating different experiential scenes for stone carving appreciation.

As a stone carving theme park, “Tiandi Stone Carving Park” not only considers the appreciation of stone carving artworks but also offers leisure and entertainment activities for general visitors. These include a cutting-edge 4D cinema for immersive experiences, water activities utilizing the natural water resources of Phoenix Lake, a real-life CS combat game for recreational purposes, and outdoor team-building expansion programs to strengthen group camaraderie. Since its opening on April 23, the park has hosted over 30 various tour groups, with an average daily visitor count of more than 2,000 people.
