Pizhou Museum

Pizhou Museum was first built in 1988 as a local comprehensive museum. In order to promote the city’s outstanding historical culture and further enhance its cultural stature, in 2003 the Pizhou Municipal Party Committee and Government invested over 28 million yuan to construct a new museum covering an area of 20,000 square meters with a floor space of 10,200 square meters in the new urban district. The new museum was completed and opened to the public in November 2005. The new museum's exhibits are divided into three sections: Ancient Pizhou Civilization, Echoes Along the Long River, and Folk Culture. The displays include a 3.66-meter-long ivory tusk, painted pottery unearthed from the Dadunzi site that pushes Jiangsu’s history back by about 2,000 years, as well as more than 5,000 cultural relics such as bronzeware, stoneware, and pottery excavated from the Liangwangcheng site dating back to the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods.
