Fenghuangdun Tomb Cluster

The Fenghuangdun Tomb Cluster is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Fenghuangdun Tomb Cluster is located in the old urban area of Suqian, to the east of Malingshan Park. In late 2011, due to construction work, the Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Press and Publication, in collaboration with the History Department of Nanjing University, conducted an archaeological excavation of the site. The excavation was divided into eastern and western zones, uncovering a total of 68 tombs. These tombs were categorized into three types: brick-chambered tombs, mixed brick-and-stone tombs, and vertical earthen pit tombs. Over 200 artifacts were unearthed, including pottery, ironware, bronze ware, silverware, porcelain, and stone reliefs. Based on tomb structures and the artifacts discovered, the tombs span a wide range of periods, from the Eastern Zhou Dynasty all the way to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Among them, Tomb No. 26 from the Eastern Zhou Dynasty yielded bronze chime bells, bronze tripods, bronze hu vessels, and pottery bianqing stone chimes—artifacts that were found in the Suqian area for the first time.
