Wuzhuang Site

The Wuzhuang Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Suyu District.

The Wuzhuang Site, located in Fenghuang Village, Bao’an Township, Suyu District, is a county-level cultural heritage protection unit. The site rises about 1.5 meters above the ground, stretching approximately 200 meters from east to west and 200 meters from north to south, covering an area of around 40,000 square meters, with a cultural layer about 3 meters thick. Artifacts collected from the site include hollow-footed red clay pottery beans with openwork designs from the Dawenkou Culture, as well as remnants of bag-footed vessels, tripods, bowls, basins, and jars; relics from the Western Zhou Dynasty unearthed at the site include red clay pottery vessels with rope patterns, li tripods, red clay pottery basins, and gui food vessels. Currently, the site is used for farmland, mainly cultivating wheat and rice.

Bao’an Township: Bao’an Township of Suyu District is located in the northeast of Suyu District, Suqian City, about 30 kilometers from the urban area. It covers a total area of 46 square kilometers, governs 8 administrative villages, has 0.49 million households, a population of 23,000, and actual arable land area of 37,000 mu. The township has a long history and is widely known as a revolutionary base area. It enjoys a simple folkway and social stability, and is hailed as the “Pearl of the East” in Suyu District.
