Wujin Yilin Garden

Wujin Yilin Garden is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Wujin Xiaxi Ornamental Plant Technology Demonstration Garden (Yilin Garden), built by Changzhou Houyu Flower & Wood Co., Ltd., has introduced hundreds of new varieties of premium, unique, rare, and exotic ornamental flowers, plants, and seedlings. Relying on Nanjing Agricultural University, it implements high-efficiency cultivation techniques to accelerate the promotion, transformation, and utilization of high-quality seedlings, bulbs, seeds, and horticultural technologies. By the end of 2000, it had established a 66.67-hectare base for introducing new flower varieties, 32,000 square meters of greenhouses, and promoted planting across 2,000 hectares. In 2002, the company invested over 30 million yuan to build Yilin Garden, a 100-acre premium flower and plant demonstration garden integrating scientific research, science education, production, sales, and leisure tourism. The garden utilizes the national patent “Rapid Rooting Method for Transplanting Large Trees,” exclusively developed by Dai Suofang, the company’s general manager, focusing primarily on cultivating ancient, rare, and unique large trees and flowers over a hundred years old, such as osmanthus, elm, pomegranate, and ginkgo.

The garden features an archway shaped like an ancient tree, standing 23 meters tall, with ancient trees connected to rockeries stretching approximately 150 meters. The seamless blend of trees and rocks, along with trees growing on trees, creates an extraordinary spectacle. The garden’s landscapes showcase the characteristics of being premium, unique, ancient, rare, exotic, and extraordinary. After its completion, the park was opened to the public free of charge and received high praise from all sectors of society.

In 2001, the demonstration garden was jointly named the “Wujin Science Education Demonstration Base” by the Wujin City (now district) Association for Science and Technology and the Science and Technology Bureau. By the end of 2002, it passed the assessment and acceptance organized by the China Association for Science and Technology and was designated as a “National Rural Science Education Demonstration Base.” In May 2003, after its completion, it became the largest production and research base in southern Jiangsu for rapid rooting of ancient and giant trees, rapid propagation of ornamental bamboo, and landscape research of ornamental plants.
