Chengxi Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

Chengxi Martyrs' Cemetery is located at the southern foot of Fangmao in Hengshanqiao Town, Wujin District, bordered by Dalin Temple to the east and Huatuo Nunnery to the west. Covering an area of 8,366 square meters with a construction area of 2,189 square meters, the total investment exceeded 1.4 million yuan. The cemetery mainly consists of a memorial monument, a martyrs' memorial hall, and a service reception area.

On June 26, 1991, the Chengxi Martyrs' Cemetery was grandly completed. Ye Fei, former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and Jiang Weiqing, former Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, inscribed the name of the cemetery. Former local leaders Zhang Zhiqiang, Peng Yan, Wei Yongyi, Kang Di, and Xu Chao also contributed inscriptions and congratulatory messages.

The martyrs' memorial hall displays precious materials of 346 martyrs, documenting the revolutionary struggles of the people in the Chengxi region under the leadership of the Communist Party of China during the Great Revolution, Agrarian Revolutionary War, Anti-Japanese War, and Liberation War. It recreates the moving scenes of countless revolutionary pioneers in Chengxi bravely fighting against Japanese imperialism and the reactionary Kuomintang under the Party’s leadership, and showcases the great spirit of these martyrs who feared no sacrifice, advanced wave upon wave, faced death fearlessly, and made selfless contributions.

After its completion, the cemetery has seen a continuous stream of visitors, with nearly 30,000 people visiting each year. In 1996, the Changzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China designated Chengxi Martyrs' Cemetery as a "Changzhou Patriotic Education Base." In 1998, the management committee of Chengxi Martyrs' Cemetery decided to transfer its management to the civil affairs department of Wujin District.

[Note] Chengxi County (region): Refers to the vast rural area adjacent to Wujin, Jiangyin, and Wuxi, formed during the Anti-Japanese War. It was a relatively independent combat unit under the leadership of the Communist Party of China for mobilizing the masses in the anti-Japanese struggle. Its territory was west of the present-day Chengxi Highway, east of the Zaogang River from Changzhou to Wujin Weitang Port, south to the Shanghai-Nanjing Railway section between Changzhou and Wuxi, and north to the Yangtze River, covering an area of about 1,090 square kilometers with a population of around 700,000.
