Wujin Martyrs' Cemetery is a patriotic education base.

Wujin Martyrs' Cemetery was formerly known as the Wujin City Martyrs Memorial Hall. It was relocated and rebuilt in 1996, 400 meters west of the Spring and Autumn Period ruins of Yancheng, covering an area of 128 mu. The municipal government invested 45 million yuan in its construction (including 10 million yuan donated by the people of Wujin), and the preliminary construction was completed in 1999. The unveiling ceremony was held during the Qingming Festival in 2000, and it was officially opened to the public.

The martyrs' cemetery consists of an archway, a memorial monument, a memorial square, an approach bridge, and a memorial hall. The 7.6-meter-high and 9-meter-wide archway bears an inscription written by Jiang Weiqing, former Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee. The horizontal memorial monument is laid flat, standing 6.3 meters high and 14 meters wide, with its surface clad in imported Indian red granite. The front features eight golden characters in Chairman Mao’s calligraphy style reading “Eternal Glory to Revolutionary Martyrs,” while the back displays an inscription composed by the Wujin Municipal Committee of the CPC and the Municipal People’s Government. The over 4,000-square-meter memorial square is entirely paved with granite and surrounded by man-made waterways. The Martyrs' Deeds Exhibition Hall is a four-story building with a floor area of 4,623 square meters. Its exterior walls are covered with dry-hung granite, and the name inscribed on it continues to use the original title “Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall,” written by Shi Liang, former Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.

The Martyrs' Deeds Exhibition Hall employs various display methods, including high-tech multimedia projection technology, scene artistry, and a variety of sculptures, paintings, and richly informative panels, creating a diverse and engaging presentation. The two-story exhibition space, covering over 2,100 square meters, displays the life stories of more than 2,000 martyrs who sacrificed their lives for China’s revolutionary cause. The third-floor cinema hall, spanning approximately 180 square meters, can accommodate over 100 people for patriotic and revolutionary tradition education.

The cemetery is embraced by greenbelts, crisscrossed by flowing water, adorned with blooming flowers in all seasons, and shaded by evergreen pines and cypresses. Art and architecture blend seamlessly here, where solemnity and reverence coexist. The martyrs’ cemetery adheres to its founding mission, focusing on education, and strives to build a comprehensive and well-rounded patriotic and revolutionary tradition education base. In 2004, it was designated as a “Jiangsu Provincial Patriotic Education Base” by the Publicity Department of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee. In March 2007, it was recognized as an “Advanced Unit” by the Publicity Department of the Changzhou Municipal Committee.
