Wujin White Dragon Temple

The Wujin White Dragon Temple is a Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The White Dragon Temple is located in Hengshanqiao Town at the border of Changzhou and Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. It was first built during the Chen Dynasty of the Southern Dynasties. Facing south and nestled against mountains and water, the temple features pavilions and towers with an extraordinary presence. It attracts migratory birds and boasts fragrant flowers and birdsong all year round, truly making it a paradise on earth.

The White Dragon Temple is located on the southern slope of Zixia Peak, facing Dalin Temple across the ridge. It was first built during the Shaoxing era of the Song Dynasty. Legend has it that a woman named Xiang became pregnant after mistakenly eating a celestial peach, then died of shame, and her unborn child transformed into a white dragon. Hence, the temple was built to enshrine and worship the White Dragon Goddess. In the fourth year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1878), major structures such as the Jade Emperor Hall, the Dongyue Hall, the Ten Kings Hall, the Goddess Hall, the Official Reception Hall, and the Joy Pavilion were rebuilt, comprising a hundred rooms.

On December 19, 2011, the People's Government of Jiangsu Province designated it as part of the seventh batch of Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units.
