Tongzhou Loyalty and Filial Piety Cultural Park

The Tongzhou Loyalty and Filial Piety Cultural Park is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The Tongzhou Loyalty and Filial Piety Cultural Park in Nantong City is located 500 meters north of the town center, covering an area of over 160 acres. It was built on the site of General Lu Fengbin’s ancestral home. Designed by Tongji University in Shanghai, the park features the architectural style of Jiangnan gardens from the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.

Since its opening, the Tongzhou Loyalty and Filial Piety Cultural Park has been open to the public free of charge and has received over 500,000 visitors for tours and educational purposes. It has gained widespread recognition from all sectors of society and has been awarded 26 honorary titles, including “Nantong Patriotic Education Base,” “Nantong Youth Moral Education Base,” “Nantong Cultural Industry Base,” and National AAA-Level Tourist Attraction.

The cultural park aims to promote traditional values of loyalty and filial piety and is the first cultural landscape in China themed around “loyalty and filial piety.” Within the park, attractions such as the “Si Yuan” Building, multi-functional cinema hall, library reading room, Loyalty and Filial Piety Archway, Chinese Pillar, Jubaoge Pavilion, exhibition hall of calligraphy by one hundred generals, stone carving scroll of the “Classic of Filial Piety,” Loyalty and Filial Piety Culture Corridor, sculpture garden of 24 Paragons of Loyalty and 24 Paragons of Filial Piety, mural corridor of the New 24 Filial Exemplars, promotional corridor of Nantong’s First Top Ten Filial Stars, and national defense education corridor complement each other beautifully.

Inside the classic and elegant Jubaoge Pavilion are precious items donated by notable individuals, including mahogany statues of “The Four Great Leaders” and “The Ten Marshals,” the valuable oil painting “Mao Zedong in Jinggangshan,” and a small sandalwood carving of Mao Zedong.

Directly in front of the main gate of the “Loyalty and Filial Piety Archway” stands a 28-meter-tall stone statue of Confucius. The main structure consists of more than 480 stone components, weighing over 1,000 tons. The expression of the Confucius statue is modeled after the Tang Dynasty painting of Confucius by Wu Daozi, while the attire and posture are based on the “Confucius Teaching” illustration. The entire statue stands at the southern end of the Loyalty and Filial Piety Park. Looking up, one sees a dignified and benevolent elder in his sixties or seventies gazing into the distance. This is part of the park’s fourth phase project, covering an area of over 20 acres with an investment of over 10 million yuan.

Adjacent to the south side of the “Loyalty and Filial Piety Archway” gate is a fishing center, medium to large conference rooms that can accommodate over 200 people, a banquet hall for 300 guests, a distinctive waterside restaurant, luxury private rooms, as well as multifunctional wooden cabins integrating accommodation, business, and entertainment, and standard guest rooms. Visitors can immerse themselves in the beautiful scenery of the Jiangnan water town and appreciate the unique charm of classical garden architecture.
