Seven Star Lake Ecological Park

Seven Star Lake Ecological Park is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Hai’an Seven Star Lake Ecological Park is situated in the Hai’an Economic Development Zone, bordered by the Tongyang Canal to the east, Donghai Avenue to the south, Hubin West Road to the west, and Huanghai Avenue to the north. The formation of Seven Star Lake is both deliberate and natural, as it is closely related to the construction of the Xinchang Railway. Prolonged centralized excavation of earth in this area gradually formed an artificial lake. In 2005, designed by the American company EAST according to the principles of the golden ratio curve and the layout of "seven stars arching over the moon," the 520-acre lake surface, seven islands, and surrounding green spaces were planned into eight major zones: the Main Entrance Plaza Area, Landscape Boulevard Area, Central Plaza Area, Tourism & Resort Area, Traditional Culture Area, Ecological Wetland Area, Sports & Entertainment Area, and Water Activities Area. It also integrates Hai’an’s “Three Ponds and Ten Scenic Spots” and the Qingdun culture, using modern techniques to tell historical stories and perfectly blending contemporary aesthetics with traditional culture to achieve harmony between people, nature, and architecture.

Landscape Boulevard

The Landscape Boulevard Area is planned in both plan and space with a modern European-American artistic style, highlighting the captivating charm of the boulevard. The boulevard is approximately 300 meters long and 36 meters wide, featuring a scenic water channel in the center. The channel starts from a spiral fountain at the entrance, flows through the plaza, and connects to East Lake after passing through cascading waters and waterfalls. The Landscape Boulevard uses romantic, exaggerated, and colorful ground finishes, with rows of European-style green belts planted on both sides. Comfortable and aesthetically pleasing rest seats are placed among the generous greenery, offering visitors spots to sit and enjoy the scenery. Vivid and unique sculptures and landscape stones enrich the entire boulevard.

Moon Plaza

Moon Plaza is a popular hub within the scenic area, serving multiple functions such as sightseeing, performances, festivals, and lake activities. The stage is circular in shape, resembling the moon, and utilizes the height difference of multi-tiered steps to sink partially into the water, creating the illusion of a moon on the water. The stage can be automatically adjusted in size, height, and extension, making it suitable for large-scale festivals and urban events. To the west of the performance stage is a yacht dock, where visitors can engage in water activities. About 150 meters away from the performance stage on the lake, there is a large dynamic musical fountain that dances in the air with music and light effects, forming a “water symphony.”

Lotus Pond

The pond is planted with various species of lotus flowers, displaying a stunning array of colors and shapes. Water-access platforms extending into the pond encircle sections of the lotuses, allowing visitors to get up close. “In the south one may gather lotus blooms; their leaves so lush upon the pools. Fish play beneath the leaves’ east side; they sport ‘neath leaves upon the west. They frolic ‘neath the southern leaves; they dart ‘neath those upon the north.” Fishing platforms are also available, providing an ideal spot for fishing enthusiasts.

Star Island

Hai’an Flower Drum is widely renowned, along with other nearly-lost folk arts such as dragon lanterns, horse lantern jumping, stilt walking, clam dancing, lake boat rowing, flower carrying, and dough modeling. A folk art exhibition hall and a local specialty exhibition hall are set up here, offering distinctive seafood, food, silk, and other local products, ensuring visitors leave with memorable experiences.

Nancheng Taowu (Peach Grove)

Nancheng Taowu draws inspiration from the concept of a “utopia.” It creates an enchanting scene of “no other trees in sight, fragrant grass lush and fair, fallen petals fluttering everywhere.” The peach blossom is the main design element of Peach Grove, with its graceful posture and subtle fragrance offering visitors a refreshing, poetic, and picturesque experience. The terrain of Peach Grove is also used to set up a Celebrity Wall, introducing notable local figures, educational elites, and other historical and contemporary personalities who have made outstanding contributions to Hai’an’s development, allowing visitors to appreciate the profound heritage of Hai’an’s traditional culture.

Eco-Camping Star Island

Visitors can reach this area on foot, by vehicle, or by boat. Large lawns are available for family gatherings, games, camping, and barbecues. The artificial beach provides a fun play area for children, while adults set up tents and prepare barbecues, kids can build sandcastles and dig sand pits.

North Garden Chrysanthemum Garden

The chrysanthemum is one of China’s top ten famous flowers, with a rich variety of types, ever-changing colors, and diverse shapes. “Picking chrysanthemums beneath the eastern hedge, I glimpse the southern mountain in repose,” “Golden stamens fall, yet their fragrance remains even when withered”—throughout history, many have cherished the chrysanthemum. Symbolizing transcendence and pride, experiencing the joy of life while defying frost and snow, these core qualities deeply move visitors with their spiritual essence.

Healthy Spring Star Island

This is a small island featuring a natural hot spring bath. The warm and soothing waters offer complete relaxation. After soaking, visitors might feel thirsty and can relax at the tea house on the island. The hot spring island is accessible only by boat, giving it a serene and peaceful atmosphere. The island also features “Furong Pond” and “Mirror Rainbow Pavilion” from the “Three Ponds and Ten Scenic Spots.” The Mirror Rainbow Pavilion interprets historical landscape aesthetics through modern design, while Furong Pond adds another beautiful scene.

Sports & Entertainment Area

Themed around “green sports,” this area promotes health, vitality, ease, and joy, fully embodying a human-centered philosophy that values wellness and life. It also advocates “fun sports” and “entertainment sports,” planning the zone as an entertaining sports and health park.

Children’s Entertainment Area

The laughter of children is the most beautiful music in the world, and with them, the park feels more complete. “Curiosity Garden” offers children a place to explore plants using their senses, “Planting Garden” lets them grow plants with their own hands, and “Exploration Garden” caters to their love for adventure.

Extreme Star Island

As one of the “Seven Stars Arching Over the Moon,” the Skill and Extreme Star Island is a paradise for extreme sports enthusiasts. It offers outdoor rock climbing to build endurance and willpower, grass skiing for speed and thrill, bungee jumping to challenge courage, and aerial sports tracks for skateboarding and mountain biking stunts. It is truly a dedicated extreme sports zone. The area also incorporates the “Sanli Fengfan” (Three-Mile Sails) feature from the “Three Ponds and Ten Scenic Spots,” set along the lakeshore for a unique view.

Dragon Dance Square

“Hai’an Dragon Dance” is not only famous nationwide but has also gained international acclaim and numerous awards. The Dragon Dance Square, located by the lake, regularly hosts dragon dance performances, making it a signature event of the park. In front of the square is a row of unique fountains and a dragon boat dock for dragon boat races. Additionally, a Dragon Dance Culture Museum showcases the long history and glorious achievements of Hai’an’s dragon dance culture through modern audiovisual technology and detailed historical records. An inner courtyard of the museum features a distinctive dragon-shaped plant design, adding the finishing touch. The area also includes multiple tennis courts and a baseball field, making it a comprehensive activity venue.

It features high-star business resort hotels and serves as a multifunctional leisure venue. Nestled by the pristine East Lake, the area boasts fresh air and lush vegetation. Especially as it lies within a scenic zone, guests enjoy the unique advantage of being able to relax on-site and explore nearby attractions with ease.

Transportation Conditions

Qixing Lake Park is a comprehensive project integrating urban landmarks, large squares, event celebrations, public green spaces, leisure vacations, health and entertainment, sightseeing tourism, events, and emergency shelters. Located at the southern end of Hai’an County Railway Station, west of the Xintongyang Canal, east of National Highway 204, and north of the city’s Fourth Ring Road, it enjoys an exceptionally strategic location. The park is within a one-hour drive of Nantong Airport, Nantong Port, Zhangjiagang, and other key destinations. The completion of the Sutong Bridge has successfully reduced travel time to Shanghai to under two hours, greatly attracting tourists from all over for leisure and recreation.
