Former Residence of Han Guogong

The Former Residence of Han Guogong is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The site of the Hai’an County Museum is located in the former residence of Mr. Han Guojun (also known as Zishi), Governor of Jiangsu Province during the Republic of China and a patriotic elder. This is a well-preserved group of late Qing Dynasty buildings, featuring blue bricks, small tiles, fire lanes, and corridors. The small flower hall shaped like a train carriage was the site of the “Joint Anti-Japanese Symposium” initiated by Mr. Han Guojun, and is a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit.

The Hai’an County Museum has a total construction area of 1,085 square meters and houses over 1,100 cultural relics. It features exhibitions such as “The Life and Achievements of Mr. Han Guojun,” “Selected Cultural Relics Exhibition,” “Site of the Joint Anti-Japanese Symposium,” “Former Residence of Mr. Han Guojun,” and “Western Flower Hall Where Chen Yi Met Han Guojun.” In 1995, it was recognized as an “Advanced Collective for Cultural Relic Safety Year” by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and the Public Security Department. In 1996, it was awarded the title of “Advanced Unit in Social Undertakings” by the county Party committee and government. In 1998, it was commended as a “Jiangsu Provincial Excellent Museum” by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture.

The former residence of Mr. Han Guojun, a renowned patriotic democratic figure and two-term Governor of Jiangsu Province during the Republic of China, is located on the west side of Beilujiaxiang on East Street in Hai’an County, locally known as the “Han Guogong Residence.”

In May 2013, the State Council (State Council Document [2013] No. 13) announced the Former Residence of Han Guogong as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
