Hai’an City Museum

The new building of Hai’an City Museum is located on the former East Street in the city center, to the east of the national heritage site “Han Mansion.” It covers an area of 6,300 square meters, with a floor space of 5,163 square meters. The total investment is approximately 50 million yuan. It began trial operations on August 5, 2019, and is open to the public free of charge.

The new Hai’an City Museum is a comprehensive local museum centered around the spirit of the city of Hai’an, themed on the region’s cultural identity, and set against a backdrop of blending tradition with innovation. It follows the timeline of Hai’an’s historical development, highlighting key historical periods to emphasize the unique characteristics and strengths of the area’s local history and culture. The museum systematically showcases the human production, daily life, and cultural creations on this vibrant land, reflecting the district’s identity as a key hub of the Jianghuai region, a land of fish and rice, an economically prosperous area, a melting pot of humanities, and a place of outstanding people and rich culture.

The new museum combines traditional displays, interactive experiences, and high-tech viewing methods. It emphasizes narrative design, spatial atmosphere creation, and innovative exhibition techniques to deliver a comprehensive artistic presentation. Through artifacts, charts, scenes, audiovisual materials, and live demonstrations, it establishes a communication channel with the public, making it a spiritual home, cultural oasis, knowledge temple, urban living room, and window of civilization for the city of Hai’an.
