Taizhou Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism destination, as well as a patriotic education base and national defense education base.

Taizhou Martyrs' Cemetery is located on Yingchun West Road, Hailing District, Taizhou. Taizhou is a famous red city and a veteran revolutionary base. In the autumn of 1926, the Independent Branch of the Communist Party of China in Taixing under the Jiangsu-Zhejiang Regional Committee was established here, leading the May 1st Peasant Uprising involving over 20,000 participants; from August 1929 to October 1930, the Ruta and Red 14th Army fought bravely in the Taizhou area; during the Anti-Japanese War, Chen Yi and Su Yu led part of the New Fourth Army into northern Jiangsu, establishing the Huangqiao Anti-Japanese Base and forming the “United Resistance” here, delivering heavy blows to Japanese and puppet troops; during the Liberation War, the party, government, and military organs of the Northern Jiangsu Region, as well as the Command Headquarters for the Yangtze River Crossing Campaign of the Third Field Army, among other command centers, were stationed here to plan strategies and achieve victory on the battlefield; the Taizhou Negotiations, the Battle of Huangqiao, the Seven Victories in Seven Battles in Central Jiangsu, and the Yangtze River Crossing Campaign are all recorded in history. Over 10,000 sons and daughters of Taizhou gave their precious lives for China's liberation and construction. To promote the spirit of the martyrs and educate the public, the cemetery was first built in 1951, covering an area of 43,000 square meters with a built-up area of nearly 10,000 square meters. It includes a memorial square, a memorial tower, a martyrs’ burial area, and an exhibition hall. Marshal Chen Yi inscribed the name of the memorial tower. The cemetery is recognized as a Jiangsu Provincial Patriotic Education Base, a Jiangsu Provincial National Defense Education Base, and a Jiangsu Provincial Provincial-Level Martyrs’ Memorial Facilities Protection Unit.
