The Main Hall of Nanshan Temple is a Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Main Hall of Nanshan Temple is the only well-preserved ancient structure among the historic temples of Taizhou. Built during the Ming Dynasty as a double-eaved hip-and-gable roof hall — the highest architectural grade of its time — it once served as the headquarters of the monk administration established by the Ming government. The beams bear ink inscriptions from the Ming era, and remnants of Ming-era colored paintings can still be found. This year, the hall has been fully restored to its original scale.
