Qiuxue Lake Ecological Scenic Area

Qiuxue Lake Ecological Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Snow Lake Scenic Area is located in the central part of Taizhou City. To the east, it connects with the national 5A-level Qinghu National Wetland Park; to the north lie the Xinghua Thousand Island Rapeseed Flower Scenic Area and Lizhong Water Forest; to the west is adjacent to the national 4A-level Fengcheng River Scenic Area; and to the south stands the Memorial Hall of the Birthplace of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy. Its geographical advantages are very prominent. Centered around the scenic area, it comprehensively radiates to other major scenic spots in Taizhou City and forms strong regional connectivity with surrounding attractions.

The scenic area boasts significant locational advantages and a superior geographical position, just 8 kilometers from the bustling center of the main urban area. The No. 7 bus special line has stops at major attractions within the scenic area. Taizhou Railway Station and Taizhou Jingtai Bus Passenger Transport Station are built adjacent to the area, while Provincial Highway Xingtai runs through it. The Qiyang Expressway and the northern approach to the Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge intersect within the area. From the scenic area, it takes only 5 minutes to reach the railway station, 6 minutes to get on the expressway, 20 minutes to the airport, and 1–3 hours to major cities such as Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Suzhou, and Wuxi. Transportation is extremely convenient.

The scenic area features clear waters, green banks, fresh air, lush cattails, and wild ducks circling boats. The wetland scenery is particularly unique. In spring, when flowers bloom, there are thousands of streams of emerald water and golden fields of rapeseed flowers everywhere. In autumn, when the air is crisp, vast fields of rice sway golden under the sun. Looking across Qiuxue Lake, it is truly a world of water, an ocean of reeds, a realm of woods, and a paradise for birds. Strolling through it, embracing the ecological lake and enjoying the pleasures of nature is bound to be a delightful experience.

The scenic area has a long and storied history. Eight hundred years ago, during the Southern Song Dynasty, national hero Yue Fei once used the "Eight Trigrams Formation" here to resist the Jin army, and traces of the ancient battlefield remain in Nanshe Village within the scenic area. Shen Yi, the leader of the earliest Communist organization in Taizhou, once used this place for revolutionary propaganda activities, and the site still exists today. Founding generals of the People’s Republic of China, such as Xu Shiyou and You Taizhong, also left their footprints of pioneering efforts here, creating extraordinary military histories. The renowned military literature writer Hu Shiyuan wrote “Love of Qiuxue Lake” here, which won the National Excellent Short Story Award in 1983 and was adapted into a TV series. Over 3,000 educated youth from more than ten prestigious universities, including Peking University, Nanjing University, Xiamen University, and Shanghai Conservatory of Music, also experienced life here. Renowned conductor Pang Longkun and famous writer Shen Ximeng have also left unforgettable memories in this place.

The scenic area offers enchanting scenery in all four seasons. In spring, green fields embrace the water, shaded by lush trees, willow branches swaying gently, and flowers blooming everywhere. In summer, ancient trees tower overhead, green leaves stretch as far as the eye can see, boats float on wild ponds, and birds sing in chorus. In autumn, birds chirp among fragrant flowers, reed catkins flutter, egrets fly low, and fruits turn red. In winter, the land is draped in silvery white, the fields are hushed, the winter waters are mirror-like, creating a uniquely captivating scene.

Qiuxue Lake Primitive Ecological Scenic Area is located in Hailing District, Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province, on the northern wing of the Yangtze River Delta. It is a 15-minute drive from downtown Taizhou. It stretches from Xuxu Highway in the east to Gaoyou, Yangzhou in the west, from Xuma Highway in the south to Yuxi Town, Jiangyan in the north. The total area is 10.68 square kilometers, including 2,000 mu of land, 3,000 mu of woodland, 4,000 mu of wasteland and water surface, and 5,000 mu of fish ponds. Its vast waters, contiguous forests, pristine ecology, diverse biological species, as well as rich regional religious and historical cultural heritage, provide unparalleled development resources for the project, and offer the most valuable vitality for the growth of the scenic area.

Development Goals: With wetland conservation as the premise and sustainable development as the guideline, by combining wetland protection and restoration with ecological reconstruction and moderate resource utilization, Xumahuang will be developed into a tourist resort scenic area with excellent ecological environment, rich biodiversity, profound cultural connotation, complete supporting facilities, and harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. The goal is to create a famous wetland tourism destination in the Yangtze River Delta.
