The Chen Family Residence on Fourth Lane

The Chen Family Residence on Fourth Lane is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangsu Province.

The owner of the Chen Family Residence was a prominent family from Taizhou. The residence was built on the west side of Fourth Lane. It features three main gates facing the lane, three ceremonial gates, and one side gate. The main structure consists of six courtyards in sequence from the front to the back: the first being the screen hall, followed by a reception hall, main hall, another reception hall, a connecting hallway, and then the main hall again. It is a grand, well-organized yet varied residential complex of a large family, occupying nearly two-thirds of the entire west side of Fourth Lane, which is why it was once referred to as "Chen’s Half of the Lane."

In March 2019, the Chen Family Residence on Fourth Lane was included in the eighth batch of cultural relic protection units of Jiangsu Province.

Daohe Community: Located at the northern end of the old city area, it borders Daohe River to the east, Luting River to the west, Canal Road to the south, and Tongyang Canal to the north. The community covers an area of approximately 0.4 square kilometers, with 2,213 households and around 4,816 residents. Most residents live in single-story houses, divided into seven residential blocks: east and west of Fengle Road, Hulu Mountain, the southern and northern sections of Lingjiagou, Fengle Second Village, Fengle New Village, Beihuiyuan, and Daohe Road.

The ancient Daohe Street district, originally built in the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties, is the largest complex of ancient buildings in Taizhou.
