Songhe Park

Songhe Park is located in Siping Road Subdistrict, Yangpu District, covering an area of 1.4 hectares. It sits at the northwest corner of Fushun Road Bridge by the Yangshupu Port. Originally the northern part of the Lanzhou Nursery, it was renovated in 1985 and opened to the public on October 1, 1986. The park’s name plaque was inscribed by Song Richang, former vice chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

The teahouse in Songhe Park is centrally located, surrounded by water on three sides. A stone bridge to the north connects to a winding corridor and a flower stand. The pond’s edge is naturally shaped, with weeping willows reflected in the water. On the lakeside, circular pavilions stand facing each other from east to west. A ring-shaped path runs through the entire park, with earthen mounds rising on the outer side, covered in lush greenery. The lawn to the east of the lake is as soft as a carpet, and the square features toys for children to play with. The western part of the lake is crisscrossed with winding paths. In the Stone Bamboo Garden, there are five crane sculptures—white-bodied with black wings and bright red crests—vividly lifelike. These were created and gifted by Lou Kejian, an eminent artisan from Hangzhou. They are surrounded by emerald bamboo, longevity peaches, osmanthus, and red maples, creating a natural and scenic atmosphere. At the western garden entrance stands a rockery and lotus pond, featuring carved statues of a crane and an elderly immortal symbolizing longevity, both made of white marble. Backed by a pine forest, they convey the symbolic meaning of “pine and crane for long life,” from which the park derives its name.
