Tongji University Student Movement Memorial Park

The Tongji University Student Movement Memorial Park is a patriotism education base.

To commemorate the patriotic students who sacrificed their lives in the struggle against oppression and for democracy, as well as the Tongji martyrs who devoted themselves during the democratic revolution, the Tongji University Student Movement Memorial Park was established in May 1985. It serves as a youth education base in Shanghai.

The memorial park covers an area of 4,400 square meters. It houses a statue of alumnus Yin Jingyi, a martyr who died in the May 30th Movement, relief sculptures of alumnus Yin Fu—one of the Five Martyrs of the League of Left-Wing Writers—and alumnus Yuan Wenbin, a martyr and county magistrate who fought behind enemy lines during the Anti-Japanese War. There is also a group relief depicting Tongji students who took part in the movement, as well as the names of some martyred faculty and students, including former President Zhou Junshi, who died at the “White House” of the Zhongqing-American Cooperative Organization in Chongqing, engraved on off-white marble. The park is open to students free of charge and can be used to hold coming-of-age ceremonies for 18-year-olds, as well as induction ceremonies for the Communist Youth League or Young Pioneers.
