Historic Building Complex of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology – Siyi Hall

The Historic Building Complex of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology – Siyi Hall is a protected cultural heritage site of Shanghai.

Siyi Hall was built in 1919 with a donation of $43,500 from Mr. Harris of Evanston, Chicago, USA. The four-story building features a brick-and-wood structure with red brick walls, white-trimmed window surrounds and balconies, and a slightly protruding entrance with an arched doorway. The windows are all rectangular casement windows, arranged in three bays side by side. Originally serving as student dormitories, the building offered excellent views of the river due to its riverside location, with beautiful scenes of the Huangpu River fully visible. The original roof was sloped, but it was replaced with a flat roof during major renovations in 1984. It now serves as the Fourth Dormitory of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology.
