The Historic Building Complex of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology – Fulai Hall

Fulai Hall is the latest-built structure among the historic buildings of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. Constructed in 1948 with funding from the Northern and Southern Baptist Conventions of the United States, it cost $169,500. The building features Gothic Revival architecture, with a main three-story section and partial four-story sections. It has an exposed red brick facade, a pointed arch entrance, and a roof adorned with continuous pointed dormer windows and triangular gables. The roof is covered with double-sloped red tiles.

Originally built as a female dormitory for the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, it served continuously as a student dormitory after the liberation. Starting in the 1960s, it was used as collective faculty housing, and in August 1999, it was renovated into a teachers' apartment. It is now the Second Teachers' Apartment of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology.
