Historic Building Complex of University of Shanghai—Faculty Dormitories

In February 1947, construction began on a 12-unit faculty dormitory, which was completed that same year. On October 8, the Board of Trustees approved the library expansion plan and named the newly enlarged library the “Herman C. E. Liu Memorial Library” in honor of President Liu Zhan’en. They also approved the construction of a new women’s dormitory. Five acres of land were purchased across the street from the school gate, with a proposal to build a rural center—“Liu Zhan’en Village.”
