Former Site of Yufeng Textile Co., Ltd.

The former site of Yufeng Textile Co., Ltd. is a protected cultural heritage site of Shanghai Municipality.

The office building of Yufeng Textile Co., Ltd. is located at No. 2866 Ban Yangshupu Road. It was an early cotton mill established in Shanghai by the Japanese company Daito Yo Co., Ltd. The factory was renowned for producing the famous “Dragon Head Fine Cloth,” which gained international acclaim, and its cotton yarn, branded under the “Xiantao” label, also enjoyed a stellar reputation in the industry. After the liberation, Yufeng came under government ownership and was renamed the Shanghai No. 17 Cotton Mill General Factory. Its office building features a clear red-brick exterior with pilasters between the windows, a pitched roof, and dormer windows. In 2014, it was designated as a protected cultural heritage site of Shanghai Municipality.

The original senior staff dormitory is a two-story building with a pitched roof. Its original façade is clad in pebble-dashed stonework, with door and window openings framed in red brick.

On April 4, 2014, the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government officially designated and announced the former site of Yufeng Textile Co., Ltd. as a protected cultural heritage site of Shanghai Municipality (Shanghai Government Document No. [2014] 29).
