The Volga Manor is located on the banks of the Ashi River in Chenggaozi Town, Fangtai District, Harbin, covering an area of over 600,000 square meters. This Russian-themed Volga Manor adds another stunning tourist attraction to the beautiful Ice City.

The reconstructed “St. Nicholas Church” is identical in every detail to the original. The St. Nicholas Church, once located at the museum roundabout, left a deep impression in the hearts of many longtime Harbin residents. The disappearance of this classic Russian-style architectural gem remains a regret for many architects and artists to this day. Recently, the building has been successfully reconstructed at 1:1 scale in the “Volga Manor” in Fangtai District and renamed the “St. Nicholas Art Gallery.”

The Sun Island riverside restaurant — “Miniyagur” — has been restored to its original appearance and will serve Russian cuisine.

The “Miniyagur” restaurant, once hailed as an iconic building on Harbin’s Sun Island and one of the city’s three famous landmarks among riverside dining spots, was destroyed by a fire on February 4, 1997. Its disappearance from Sun Island has been a lasting regret for the city’s residents. The predecessor of the Sun Island riverside restaurant was the Miniyagur Café and Tea House, built in 1926 and located on Harbin’s Central Avenue in Daoli District. The Russian word “Miniyagur” means “exquisite work of art.” Later, the Miniyagur Café and Tea House opened a branch on Sun Island, which became the Sun Island riverside restaurant.

Ninety percent of the buildings are extinct examples of classical Russian architecture.

It’s no exaggeration to say that the “Volga Manor” is a “grand garden” of classical Russian architecture. Dozens of exquisite and unique structures within the park replicate famous classical Russian buildings that once held special significance in the hearts of Harbin residents, most of which no longer exist due to various reasons. The park’s entrance resembles an ancient castle, modeled after a historic building from Irkutsk, Russia; the structure that looks like a palace is based on an exhibition hall from Nizhny Novgorod, Russia; the reception center is inspired by the hall of a flax textile factory in Nizhny Novgorod that was built in 1896 and destroyed in 1925... These Russian-style replicas form a breathtakingly beautiful foreign landscape. The sightseeing park not only evokes memories of history but also builds a bridge of communication between the people of China and Russia.

Harbin has long been known as the “Oriental Moscow.” The large number of classic Russian-style artistic replicas at the “Volga Manor” will allow both Harbin locals and visitors from southern China to experience hard-to-find European culture and exotic charm, making it yet another beautiful new highlight in Harbin’s tourism and cultural scene.
