Beidahuang Museum

The Beidahuang Museum is located at No. 175 Hongqi Street, Xiangfang District, Harbin City. Approved in 2005 by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Provincial Department of Culture, it was built by the Heilongjiang Provincial Reclamation Bureau as a comprehensive museum showcasing over half a century of history in the Heilongjiang Reclamation Area. It is a panoramic portrayal of the arduous pioneering journey of three generations of Beidahuang people and a summary of the development and construction experience in Beidahuang—an achievement that can be considered a miracle in the history of land reclamation in China and even the world. The museum encapsulates the history created by generations of Beidahuang people through their sweat, tears, and blood, as well as the abundant material and spiritual achievements made over fifty-plus years. It preserves the precious cultural heritage of Beidahuang, aiming to inspire the present and motivate future generations. It serves as an important historical collection site in the province and an educational base for the vast number of workers in the reclamation area to learn about revolutionary traditions, as well as for youth to receive patriotic education.

The museum has a total exhibition area of over 10,000 square meters, featuring six exhibition halls. It houses a collection of more than 6,000 items, with over 3,000 on display, including many national-level precious cultural relics. These include documents showing care and visits to Beidahuang by Party and state leaders, personal belongings of renowned writers and artists who lived in Beidahuang and works they created praising the region. While authentically recreating history, the museum also ensures timely protection of both tangible and intangible assets unique to Beidahuang.

The Beidahuang Museum has now become an important learning and educational base for people from all walks of life to “understand the history of the development and construction of Beidahuang.” More and more individuals from various sectors are visiting the museum to learn. Members of the Supervision Group of the Central Advanced Nature Education Office stationed in Heilongjiang Province have visited the Beidahuang Museum twice this year for study tours. Over 20 retired senior officials from the Heilongjiang Provincial Reclamation Bureau, who made outstanding contributions to the development and construction of Beidahuang, visited the museum during this year’s advanced nature education campaign and were deeply moved... One official remarked, “The Beidahuang Museum is a great classroom for learning and a sacred place for purifying the soul.” Whenever they face frustrations in the future, they will come to the Beidahuang Museum to study and reflect—once here, all worries will vanish.
