Alajin Island Wetland Park

Alajin Island Wetland Park is a national-level wetland park.

Alajin Island Wetland Park is located on the Songhua River in Daowai District, Harbin, and was officially established in December 2014. Since around 2009, the government has carried out comprehensive improvements to roads and the ecological environment, preserving the original ecosystem. Nowadays, more and more people come here for leisure and fitness, and a theme integrating “ecology, health, and sports” is fully reflected here.

During the Yuan Dynasty, a post station was set up here. In winter, goods were transported by dog sleds, so locals originally named it “Dog Island.” Many elderly people and frequent anglers still casually refer to it by that name, which carries an affectionate tone. Around 2011, after extensive research, the government renamed the island “Alajin Island,” linking it to the meaning of honor or reputation associated with Harbin’s name. Dog Island remains as its affectionate nickname.

It is worth mentioning that due to continuous environmental improvements, the number of wild birds has increased. Magpies build nests in tall trees, various waterfowl fly over the shimmering water surface, lush green grass and gentle breezes add endless charm to this beautiful little island.

Visitors must first walk across the beautiful Songpu Bridge, then descend via the stairs at the bridge exit. Whether looking west toward the Binzhou Bridge, east toward the Binhbei Bridge, or north and south toward the urban area from the bridge, the views are spectacular. Protecting the environment and living healthily will leave future generations pristine blue waters and skies.
