Taiwan’s version of Meguro River’s flower sea can also be found among these top five chinaberry tree scenic spots in Taiwan

March and April each year are the blooming seasons for chinaberry flowers. When in bloom, they emit a fragrant scent and are excellent as ornamental garden trees, street trees, and suitable for afforestation along the coast. The blooming chinaberry flowers display a pale purple, dreamy hue. Rows of tall, neatly staggered trees create a sea of blossoms that feels like stepping into a fantastical fairy-tale scene — a perfect spot for a spring outing to enjoy the flowers.

1. Chiayi Liujiao Township (Anwan Bridge, Puzih River Flood Control Channel)
Chiayi’s Liujiao Township is home to Taiwan’s longest and most beautiful chinaberry tree tunnel. When the flowers are in full bloom during March and April, the entire shaded boulevard transforms into a tunnel of chinaberry trees, even emitting a faint fragrance, creating a scene straight out of a fantastical fairy tale.

2. Taichung Longyang Bridge
Located between Taichung’s Huanhe Road and Section 3 of Huannan Middle Road, Longyang Bridge also features a beautiful chinaberry flower attraction. The white chinaberry flowers by Longyang Bridge are densely and neatly planted along the stream, covering the lush green tree-lined avenue with a light layer of snow-like petals, reminiscent of Tokyo’s famous cherry blossom spot, Meguro River, offering a delightful sight.

3. Changhua Old Zhuoshui River Bicycle Path (Dongluo Stream)
Aside from the fiery red kapok tree avenues, the Dongluo Stream section of Changhua’s Old Zhuoshui River Bicycle Path also features blooming chinaberry flowers. Along the 4-kilometer stretch of chinaberry blossoms on both the south and north banks of the old Zhuoshui River, the silvery-white with hints of purple scenery is captivating, and can be enjoyed together with the kapok tree avenues. 

Transportation: Take National Freeway 1 (Zhongshan Expressway), exit at Beitou Interchange → turn right toward Beitou → pass the Chinese Petroleum gas station → turn right at Zhongliao Bridge (you can see the Beitou Driving School at the intersection)
