Adorably Limited-Time Kumamon-Themed Train – A Must-Ride When Visiting Japan

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the ultra-popular cartoon character Kumamon. To celebrate this milestone, Kumamon has teamed up with Keikyu Electric Railway, which is also celebrating its 120th anniversary, to launch a limited-time super-cute “Kumamon × Keikyu Train 120th Anniversary Joint Train.” The train is covered both inside and out with Kumamon imagery and has attracted plenty of attention from fans since its debut.

Since 2016, Keikyu Electric Railway’s collaboration with Kumamon on joint trains has been well received. This time, they have created three joint-series trains at once: the “Kumamon Strawberry Celebration,” the “Happy Yellow Chick,” and the “Little White Bear and Tea Bear.” Not only do the exteriors feature cute Kumamon designs, but the interiors are also filled with Kumamon imagery, drawing fans’ attention.

Besides the painted trains, to celebrate this joint event, Keikyu Electric Railway specially redesigned the station signs at “Keikyukujukurihama, Kamata, and Otorii” stations, creating brand-new special signs covered in Kumamon patterns for fans to take photos with. They have also launched a series of Kumamon train joint merchandise, including Kumamon stationery, miscellaneous goods, and plush toys — all designed to look like train conductors, which are super adorable.

Aside from the trains, restaurants within certain Keikyu Electric Railway stations, such as “Ekimenya,” are selling limited-edition Kumamon meals, and a limited-time joint café has also been set up on the fourth floor of Keikyu Department Store. Related sweets have also appeared at Yokohama and Kamata stations in Japan — fans traveling to Japan must not miss these.
