Harbin National Forest Park

Harbin National Forest Park is a national-level forest park.

Located at the junction of Nangang District and Dongli District, covering an area of 1.37 million square meters, it is the only national forest park situated within an urban area in China.

Established in 1958, the park has a forest coverage rate of 90% and serves primarily as a botanical garden dedicated to the study of cold-temperate forest plants. It is known as the showcase and microcosm of northeastern forest vegetation.

The park features a tree specimen garden that brings together over 300 species of cold-temperate woody plants from the northeastern region, along with more than 100 species of woody plants introduced from other domestic areas and abroad. There is also a medicinal plant garden cultivating over 400 varieties of medicinal herbs. The forest plant geography zone simulates the forest communities and compositions of various mountain ranges in the northeast such as the Greater and Lesser Khingan Mountains and Changbai Mountain, recreating the forest structure and landscape characteristics of the region. The aquatic plant zone includes an artificial lake, watchtower, waterfall, and bridges. The forest bathing area consists of various evergreen shrubs. Additionally, there are greenhouses, science education exhibition halls, and specimen rooms. Throughout spring, summer, and autumn, the park bursts with colorful blooms, offering a breathtaking natural landscape of lush greenery, year-round vitality, birdsong, and floral fragrance.
