Staff informed reporters that the “2014 Search for Explorers Around You” event is divided into three phases — the Audition Phase, the Advancement Phase, and the Expedition Phase: During the audition phase, Outdoor Research will visit five major Chinese cities between March and May 2014 to recruit 25 “explorers” nationwide. Participants will take on challenges such as rock climbing and outdoor skills, with five individuals shortlisted at each stop. In June, the 25 shortlisted contestants will compete in Wulong, Chongqing, during the “Advancement Phase,” where they will be tested on teamwork, individual challenges, endurance, willpower, and outdoor skills. The top five winners will then embark on the “Expedition Phase,” guided by mentors on an adventurous journey to either Antarctica or the Amazon.

The large-scale “Search for Explorers Around You” campaign has been successfully held three times since 2010. Continuing its mission from previous years, the 2014 edition centers on exploration, public welfare, environmental protection, and dreams, remaining committed to finding ordinary people who have bravely lived out their ideals. Since its launch in March, the event has attracted numerous participants, providing a platform for everyday individuals to showcase themselves as courageous dreamers and go-getters.

Additionally, staff revealed that the event organizer, Outdoor Research, has prepared a range of rewards and prizes for participants: all contestants will receive a participation award, while those shortlisted will be rewarded with a full set of Outdoor Research outdoor gear and an opportunity to appear on the adventure reality TV show “I Am an Explorer,” co-produced by Travel Satellite TV and the Outdoor Research brand. Those who successfully advance will receive a “2014 Search for Explorers Around You” – “Explorer” certificate, along with the chance to embark on an expedition to the Amazon or Antarctica, rewarding the brave.
