In conjunction with Outdoorgear Quality Month, on October 15th, the Quality Management Department organized an on-site observation and experience activity at supplier warehouses for “returned defective goods” and “spot checks.” The participants included eighteen quality supervisors from eight apparel companies—Zhongshan Jubang, Jingzhou Shanye, Zhejiang Mingsheng, Nanjing Sumec, Beijing Zelong Brothers, Dandong Risheng, Liaoning Datian, and Shandong Tongniu—as well as quality supervisors from five footwear companies: Fujian Salaman, Fujian Goswy, Guangdong Litian, Guangdong Nangang, and Qingdao Qiaohua. Business managers He and Jin from the company also attended the event.

On-site display of returned defective goods

Upon entering the event venue, the first thing that caught the eye was the “thoughtfully prepared gift” for attendees by the organizers—recently returned defective goods. First, the quality supervisors from each company carefully inspected the defective items on display. Then, Outdoorgear quality management personnel gave a detailed explanation regarding the issues with the returned goods, covering everything from material problems to manufacturing issues... The defective items on display had a strong impact on everyone. They engaged in discussions, analyzed the issues together, learned from one another, and expressed their commitment to strengthening quality control in future production. Their goal is consumer satisfaction, with zero tolerance for substandard products, aiming to produce items that meet consumer expectations.

On-site spot check

In the afternoon, all participating company representatives were organized to conduct on-site spot checks on warehoused products, inspecting the quality of their own goods. Defective items identified during the inspection were analyzed and discussed on the spot to identify the causes, allowing participants to understand the shortcomings of their own products in real time.

Symposium and rectification

During the symposium following the spot checks, everyone was highly enthusiastic and actively participated. Outdoorgear quality personnel and the attendees analyzed and summarized product quality and craftsmanship issues, pointed out deficiencies in quality control across various manufacturers, and offered suggestions for improvement.

The apparel and footwear suppliers present all expressed: “We very much welcome this method of on-site spot checks—it was very impactful and deeply enlightening. Through this activity, we not only saw the problems in our own products but also observed the strengths of other factories. It also provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and learn from other suppliers, allowing us to learn from each other’s strengths and improve... We will take what we have seen and learned today back to our factories, share it with our staff on the production floor, and make sure everyone understands our shortcomings. We call on everyone to value quality together, produce quality products, start with ourselves, start now, start with the details, and control product quality from the consumer’s perspective.” Participants shared their insights on how to improve product quality and advocated for such on-site spot check activities to be held regularly.
