Harbin Bird Forest Zoo

The Harbin Bird Forest Zoo is surrounded by cliffs on its east, west, and south sides, and the only way to reach the mountaintop is via an ancient, steep, and rugged path along the southwest slope. Once you reach the summit, you'll realize the vastness of the world and comprehend the true meaning of life.

The zoo houses over a thousand birds of more than 150 species, such as white and blue peacocks, red-crowned parrots, larks, thrushes, and egrets, living together like one big family in “peaceful coexistence.” The mountains, rocks, and trees in the park are all natural, and visitors can meander along the winding mountain paths and “chat” intimately with the birds, returning to nature and enjoying endless fun. In the bird performance area, trained birds put on shows for visitors, including ten amazing acts such as white parrots walking tightropes, climbing ladders, riding bicycles, driving trains, and flying airplanes. Dozens of trained peacocks spread their wings and fly southeast, bringing ancient poetry to life and leaving visitors in awe. The area is home to more than 100 species and over 1,500 birds, many of which are rare and protected species in China.

There is a Chinese idiom called “a hundred birds paying homage to the phoenix.” When you walk into the Bird Forest, you’ll feel like you are the phoenix—no matter your status, all birds treat you equally. They will immediately fly around your head and body, showing off their songs and dances. The most beautiful sight in the Bird Forest is the flight of the peacocks to the southeast. The most beautiful of all birds are the peacocks, and their colorful, iridescent tail feathers are simply captivating. At such moments, it’s as if colorful clouds are descending from the sky, drawing cheers from visitors.
