Yaquan Town

Yaquan Town is a comprehensive tourism service area within the Wudalianchi Scenic Area, covering an area of over 10 square kilometers.

The Wudalianchi mineral water is a low-temperature cold mineral spring of the ferrosilicate bicarbonate-calcium-magnesium type. Along with Vichy in France and the Caucasus in Russia, it is known as one of the “Three Great Cold Springs of the World.” With abundant reserves and high mineralization, it can be both consumed and used for bathing, offering miraculous health and therapeutic effects. It is extremely rare, and was once praised as a “World Famous Spring” by the former President of China during his visit here.

This area mainly features numerous divine springs such as Nanquan (South Spring), Beiquan (North Spring), Fanhuaquan (Flower-Spouting Spring), and Erlongyan (Two Dragon Eyes), as well as 27 other sites including the Magnetic Therapy Sunbathing Field, the Former Site of the Divine Springs, the Yaquan Science Exhibition Hall, the Spring Lake Waterfall, the Spring Lake Bathing Beach, Yaquan Lake, and Yaquan Park. Here, visitors can go boating and fishing, taste the world-famous springs, enjoy natural thermal therapy and the full magnetic environment of a volcanic region, climb Yaquan Mountain to overlook the entire scenic area, and listen to the evening drums and morning bells of the Zhongling Chan Temple.

Erlongquan, also called Erlongyan (Two Dragon Eyes), is located at the foot of Yaquan Mountain. The spring water flows from the mouth of a large stone-carved dragon head on a stone bridge, with two smaller dragon heads on either side of the large one. The water flowing from these three dragon heads forms Yaquan Lake.

Two streams of mountain spring water spout from the dragons’ mouths like two silver dragons soaring into the sky, nourishing the earth and forming green islands and green lakes.

Yaquan Mountain is the smallest and lowest in elevation among the 14 volcanoes of the Wudalianchi area. Located in the southern part of the Wudalianchi volcanic cluster, it stands 355 meters above sea level and rises 60 meters above the surrounding ground. The crater floor is flat, and many mineral springs are distributed at the foot of the mountain.

Yaquan Mountain is widely renowned for its mineral springs, which are called “holy water” and are highly therapeutic. At the center of the mountain lies Yaquan Mountain Park, which features attractions such as Yaquan Lake, Heilong Pavilion, an antique-style corridor, Golden Deer Bridge, and Longevity Garden, as well as areas for drinking and bathing in the springs. It has become a beautifully scenic mineral spring resort park.

Yaquan Mountain is a rare piece of pristine land that retains its valuable natural state. Here, visitors will be amazed to see the Stone Sea, formed by the rapid cooling of lava hundreds of years ago. On the slopes and among the rocks, various plants—from lichens and mosses to shrubs and forests—thrive, creating a vibrant landscape of frost-covered woods.

Wudalianchi City is under the jurisdiction of Heihe City in Heilongjiang Province. It is located in the northwest of Heilongjiang Province and the southwest of Heihe City, in the transitional zone between the Lesser Khingan Mountains and the Songnen Plain. It borders Xunke County to the east, Keshan County, Nehe City, and the Wudalianchi Scenic Area to the west, Beian City and Kedong County to the south, Sunwu County to the north, and faces Nenjiang County across the river to the northwest. It is 263 kilometers away from downtown Heihe.

The predecessor of Wudalianchi City was the former Dedu County, established in 1963. In 1983, Wudalianchi Town, formerly under the jurisdiction of Dedu County, was designated as an administrative region, leading to the establishment of the original Wudalianchi City.
