Dalazi Site

The Dalazi Site is a cultural heritage site protected by Heilongjiang Province.

The Dalazi Site is located on the banks of the Tangwang River in the northern suburbs of Jinshantun District, where there is a 30-meter-high cliff locally known as "Dalazi." Multiple excavations here have unearthed stone and pottery artifacts from the late Neolithic period. The stone tools include broken stones, plate bases, pottery chopping blocks, stone cores, and flakes. The pottery includes gray pottery, red-brown pottery, red-slipped pottery, and black pottery. The pottery walls vary in thickness, mostly handmade with sand inclusions, and the vessel shapes are primarily jars and bowls, featuring incised patterns, carved lines, finger-pressed designs, deformed dot impressions, raised string patterns, diamond grids, and added pile decorations. According to expert analysis, these stone and pottery items are typical late Neolithic utensils, dating back about three thousand years. The grinding surface of the stone millstone is concave, and the unearthed pottery chopping blocks remain sturdy—an extremely rare find among similar artifacts excavated in China.
