Live life on your own terms

Every time grandma, grandpa, and auntie come back from their trips, the little ones have plenty of snacks to enjoy~ This time, the treats are from Hong Kong—Jenny Bear Cookies and Lemon King’s Licorice Lemon (the egg tarts were devoured before we could take photos), and these two kids are truly so lucky~~

First, let’s check out the Jenny Bear Cookies. Neil absolutely loves these cookies. Last time when auntie brought back a box, he almost finished all of them except for the coffee-flavored ones!!

Among Jenny Bear Cookies, the most popular is this four-flavor cookie pack—you get to taste four flavors in one go~

The founder of Jenny Bear Cookies loves teddy bears, so each box features cute bear designs, which change every month (there are so many counterfeits), making them highly collectible. Auntie has already collected several!

The four flavors are tightly arranged, and as soon as you open the box, the aroma bursts out, full of buttery fragrance~

The four flavors are: Butter Flower, Crispy Butter, Oat Raisin, and Coffee Flower. Each one melts in your mouth, making you want to eat just one more. So each time, we use a small plate to portion out what we’re going to eat, to avoid overindulging.

Among them, my favorite is the Coffee Flower flavor. In addition to the rich buttery scent, it finishes with a coffee aroma that isn’t bitter at all. The Oat Raisin also has a caramel fragrance and the texture of oat grains, which I really love~

Two little cookies paired with a cup of coffee make for a delightful afternoon tea moment!

Lemon King is also a super popular item that often has long queues. It’s said that because there are so many people buying it for others, there’s now a purchase limit. If you want to try this flavor in Taiwan, it costs at least twice as much as the Hong Kong price. Compared to the bear cookies, Sophie prefers Lemon King’s Licorice Lemon. The after-dinner treat is usually Neil having the cookies, and Sophie having the licorice lemon~

Inside Lemon King’s famous licorice lemon, there’s pickled lemon and a packet of dried grass powder. Before eating, you open the package, pour the grass powder in, shake it up, and let the powder evenly coat the lemon surface before enjoying. The lemon itself has a moist texture, sweet and not bitter, and pairing it with the grass powder makes it even more refreshing. It’s great for cutting through greasiness after a meal~

The mint lemon tastes very similar to the licorice lemon, but with an added refreshing coolness from the mint at the end. It’s quite suitable for summer~

Being able to travel the world through food without leaving home makes the two kids and us feel so lucky Up!!

We’re already looking forward to the desserts from grandma and grandpa’s trip to Northern Xinjiang Up~~
