Baishan Comprehensive Scenic Area

Baishan Comprehensive Scenic Area is located in the northeastern part of the national forest park area in Jinshantun District. It borders Tongzigou of Hegang to the east, is separated from Galage River of Hegang to the north, adjoins Fengling Forest Farm and Fenglin Forest Farm to the south, and connects to Fengli Forest Farm to the west.

The scenic area has an operational zone of 32,401 hectares and a total forest stock of 206,670 cubic meters, and is known for its high latitude and abundant natural resources. The unique geographical environment and geological features of Baishan endow it with rich tourism resources. Rolling mountain peaks over a thousand meters in altitude stretch across the green wilderness, providing exceptionally favorable conditions for developing new green energy projects such as wind power.

The Baishan Wind Power Project, with an investment of 1.96 billion yuan, is currently the largest in installed capacity, highest in altitude, and best in wind resources among wind power networks in China. Once completed, it will become the highest-altitude wind turbine viewing area, adding a stunning attraction to the lofty Mount Laobai and enabling visitors to enjoy the sight of windmills. This eco-friendly, green clean energy industry is set to bring new vitality to tourism. Alongside wind power development, the mysterious landscape of peculiar rocks and peaks is also being unveiled, showcasing its breathtaking, naturally-formed beauty. Some stand alone like towering pillars, while others form continuous ranges—some resemble giant pillars reaching the sky, others like elephants on parade, displaying a myriad of forms with striking lifelikeness. This will also become a highlight. The 476-hectare Baishan Primitive Forest preserves its original ecological environment and holds significant value for tourism and sightseeing. It is a typical example of the virgin forests of the Lesser Khingan Mountains and one of the world’s three major Korean pine belts, with a total forest stock of 144,800 cubic meters, an average tree age of 300–400 years, and an average tree height of 30 meters. The Baishan Korean Pine Mother Tree Forest is a mature Korean pine forest distributed in long strips.

Towering and sturdy Korean pines stand shoulder to shoulder, their umbrella-like canopies stretching into the clouds and blocking out the sun. Year-round rustling pine waves demonstrate a magnificent and vast momentum, making it an ideal destination for forest bathing, sightseeing, adventure, treasure hunting, and organizing summer camps. The Anti-Japanese Allied Forces Base — the site of the Resistance Camp — is also the only red tourism attraction in our region.

The Old Baishan Anti-Japanese Allied Forces Site records the combat achievements of the soldiers resisting Japanese invaders from 1933 to 1942. There are two secret bases of the Provincial Third and Sixth Divisions of the Anti-Japanese Allied Forces, as well as sites of a garment factory, hospital, machinery repair shop, and telecommunication school. Veteran soldiers of the Anti-Japanese Allied Forces, such as Chen Lei and Li Min, have revisited these sites multiple times, contributing to its reputation as a highly influential tourist attraction.

The distinctive climate conditions of Baishan and its remote, rarely visited location nurture a large population of wildlife including bears, river deer, roe deer, deer, and wild boars. The dense forests, wild vegetables, and fruits allow the wildlife living here to thrive and multiply, while also creating favorable conditions for hunting, offering broad prospects for development.
